Primarily includes views of marine vessels but also lighthouses, rockslides, fires, salteries, canneries, totems, local people, and the raising of the Islander in 1934. Places include: Juneau, Metlakatla, Ketchikan, Tenakee, Baranoff Springs, Kake, Funter Bay, Port Alexander, Whitehorse Rapids and other southeast Alaska locations. More of Lloyd Bayers' photographs are housed with the manuscript collection.

Lloyd H. "Kinky" Bayers was born July 6, 1911, in Juneau to Vera Soboleff Bayers and Harry "Tay Bayers" of Juneau. Seaman, captain, political activist, marine historian, and collector, he worked as a deckhand on the mail boat "Estebeth," for the Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Co., purchased the "M.V. Forester" for towing, freighting and charter work, became captain of the fish packer "Pelican," and joined the U.S. Army Transport Service in 1941.
